Ditmar Urbach ‘Pyjama’ Vase – Jarmila Formánková – c.1950s – 16.5cm

£69.00

Small but perfectly formed, this wonderfully distinctive vintage ‘Pyjama’ vase was produced by Czechoslovakian ceramics manufacturer Ditmar Urbach and designed by Jarmila Formánková, dating to around the 1950s.

The elegant, curvaceous form is decorated with the characteristic flowing striped design, combining bold black lines with soft yellow and peach tones against a warm cream ground. The vertical decoration follows the contours of the vase beautifully, accentuating its sculptural shape and giving it an unmistakable mid-century feel.

At just 16.5cm tall, it may be petite, but its unusual design and graphic decoration give it plenty of presence. A lovely example of mid-century Czechoslovakian ceramic design and an appealing piece for collectors of European pottery.
