A striking mid-century Czech pressed glass vase, designed by Jan Schmid for the Rosice glassworks, part of the Sklo Union group, dating to around 1960.
Known as pattern 1032, the design features an elegant waisted form with deeply moulded vertical facets that give the vase its distinctive architectural appearance. The rich amber glass catches the light beautifully, creating changing shades of warm gold and honey across the textured surface.
A wonderful example of post-war Czechoslovak glass design, combining strong sculptural form with the innovative use of moulded glass for which Sklo Union became so well known.
This example is the larger approximately 20cm version, giving it plenty of presence as a standalone display piece or as part of a collection of mid-century art glass.
