A striking Lorna Bailey vase, handmade at Old Ellgreave Pottery in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent and inspired by the designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
The elegant baluster form features a flared rim and a beautifully balanced Art Nouveau-inspired design. Bold black architectural lines frame a central stylised rose in deep red, complemented by subtle green heart-shaped leaves and soft burgundy detailing. The lattice decoration running down either side gives the piece an almost stained-glass quality.
At approximately 20cm tall, it's a lovely display size — substantial enough to stand alone while working equally well as part of a collection of Lorna Bailey or Mackintosh-inspired ceramics.
The underside carries the Old Ellgreave Pottery backstamp, states that the design is based on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and is hand signed Lorna Bailey.
