A striking contemporary ceramic elephant by Otto Keramik, Germany, finished in the wonderfully expressive Bolivia glaze.
The sculptural form is brought to life with a rich combination of deep red, turquoise blue and layered green glazes, with darker tones running through the surface. The reactive nature of Otto Keramik's glazing creates subtle variations in colour, texture and finish, making each piece individually distinctive.
With its wonderfully oversized ears and beautifully simple form, this is a playful piece of German studio pottery with real decorative impact.
