The wonderfully sculptural shape features a broad rounded body rising into a narrow cylindrical neck. A rich yellow glaze is layered with heavily textured charcoal-grey lava deposits across the body, shoulders and neck, creating the dramatic surface and contrast associated with classic West German Fat Lava ceramics.
Contemporary in production, the piece draws directly on Otto Keramik's heritage and the bold, experimental forms and glazes associated with 1970s West German ceramics. The reactive glazing process means every example develops its own individual pattern and texture during firing, making each piece unique.
