A beautiful large vintage Scheurich Keramik vase, produced in West Germany around the 1970s.
Form 239-41, this substantial 41 cm vase has an elegant elongated body, defined shoulders and a wide flared rim. Its real attraction is the wonderfully expressive glaze, with rich chocolate and chestnut brown flowing into bands of warm cream, soft green, deep blue-green and burnt orange.
The colours merge and drip naturally into one another, creating an almost landscape-like effect. Variations created during the glazing and firing process make each example individual.
With its impressive scale and beautifully balanced earthy palette, this is a particularly decorative example of West German pottery and works wonderfully as a standalone floor or statement vase.
